This is a case study of the installation of a deodorization tank for a chicken manure storage area in Sera Town, Hiroshima Prefecture.
We would like to introduce a case study of the application of "Super Sol," an artificial lightweight material made from crushed and sintered waste glass. This material was used as a deodorizing agent for a chicken coop. It helps reduce odors in the chicken manure storage area and was implemented based on research results from the Tottori Prefectural Livestock Experiment Station. The microorganisms settle in the bubbles of Super Sol, allowing them to break down and deodorize the odors. Composed of soil components, it is an eco-friendly product with an eco-mark. **Features of Super Sol:** - **Lightweight:** It is 1/6 to 1/5 the weight of soil, with a proven track record as a lightweight fill material. By combining it with crushed stone, the unit weight can be controlled between 4 kN/m³ and 11 kN/m³. - **Drainage:** It can be used as a drainage material in civil engineering and greening projects. - **Aeration and Water Retention:** It can be used as an inorganic soil amendment for greening. - **Workability:** Its lightweight nature makes it easy to handle, facilitating construction in distorted terrains and narrow spaces.
