Iron + Low Head Precision B Tight (Laminex) Trivalent Chromate
Supports the realization of thin and lightweight products, accommodating the miniaturization and digitization of mobile and digital devices. Features an ultra-thin specification with a screw head height of 0.2 to 0.3 millimeters. Compared to pan and flat head screws, it reduces head height by 77% and weight by 49%. This screw can be tightened while forming a male thread in the counterpart material, eliminating the need for male thread processing or nuts. The screw pitch is the same as two types of tapping screws. The cross-section of the screw part is shaped like a rice ball (triangle), allowing for fastening with a smaller screwing torque compared to tapping screws. It can be used with both steel plates and resin materials. It enables the standardization and integration of screws during assembly manufacturing. It is compliant with EU-RoHS standards.

Applications/Examples of results
Steel is widely used as a steel material for screws due to its easy availability, strength, and toughness. Based on carbon steel, which primarily consists of iron (Fe) and carbon (C), alloy steels are used that have undergone heat treatment or have additives such as chromium and molybdenum, depending on the application in terms of shape, strength, and corrosion resistance. Trivalent chromate is a surface treatment that serves as an alternative to chromate plating, providing corrosion resistance equal to or greater than traditional chromate treatment without containing harmful hexavalent chromium. Additionally, it can control the decrease in corrosion resistance that occurs during heating, which is a drawback of chromate treatment. In recent years, there has been a growing awareness of environmental measures globally, and many industries, including automotive and semiconductors, are considering alternative treatments to hexavalent chromium, with trivalent chromate being used as a substitute for chromate plating. On the other hand, compared to chromate treatment, managing the stirring state of the plating material, immersion time, temperature, and pH can be challenging, which may lead to inconsistencies in appearance and color finish. Furthermore, in general chromate treatment, the color may change as corrosion begins.
