The "Charpy impact test" is a test that examines the toughness of a material by applying an impact with a hammer to a notched specimen and measuring the energy absorbed by the impact. Additionally, when observing the fracture surface after the impact, there are brittle and ductile fracture surfaces. By measuring the brittle fracture ratio, which is the ratio of the brittle fracture surface area to the original specimen cross-sectional area, for impact test specimens conducted at various temperatures, the fracture transition temperature can be determined.
