This is a reinforcement method for RC members using lattice steel plates (steel plates processed in a lattice shape). The reinforcement cross-section can be made thin, and it can reduce labor on-site.
Grid metal is a product that reinforces deteriorated RC structures by integrating with polymer cement mortar. By processing steel plates into a lattice shape, it allows for a thinner reinforcement layer, making on-site work more efficient. It is used for reinforcing the underside and topside of bridge RC slabs, repairing and reinforcing deteriorated box culverts, and reinforcing RC beams. By reducing the thickness of repairs, it enables a reduction in repair loads and ensures the maintenance of internal space. Features of the grid metal method: - It can be processed in the factory to match the shapes of tunnels and box culverts, thus streamlining on-site construction. - Since the vertical and horizontal bars are on the same plane, the reinforcement cross-section can be made thinner, minimizing the increase in dead load and favorably securing internal space. - By applying corrosion protection treatments such as hot-dip galvanizing and epoxy resin coating, it excels in corrosion resistance and contributes to the longevity of structures. Detailed information
-
Grid metal installation status Grid metal is installed using fixed brackets with concrete anchors. The pitch of the fixed hardware will be 400 mm to 500 mm.
-
Spray concrete After applying the primer, spray polymer cement mortar. Ensure that the mortar is sufficiently filled between the grid metal and the existing concrete (approximately 1 cm) during construction.
-
Completion photo After the spray mortar work, the surface will be finished with plastering work.
-
Grid metal beam reinforcement This is a repair work for deteriorated beams in RC structures. The grid metal is manufactured in a factory and installed using a crane. Since there is no rebar work, on-site labor can be reduced.
-
Outline diagram of grid metal installation Grid metal is integrated with polymer cement mortar as a repair and reinforcement material for existing concrete, increasing the thickness of the existing concrete.
-
Comparison with conventional methods Grid metal, made from steel plates, allows the main reinforcement and distribution reinforcement to be on one surface, making it possible to be thinner than traditional thickening reinforced with rebar. This method is advantageous for reducing dead loads in repair work and securing the internal space for box culvert reinforcement.
