We propose a knife gate valve for sludge conditioning in the digestion tower.
Excess sludge is pre-dewatered by mechanical methods and then treated in a digestion tower together with primary sludge from the preliminary sedimentation tank. Here, microorganisms convert organic matter into methane gas and carbon dioxide through several stages under anaerobic conditions at a temperature of about 40°C. The generated methane is directed to a gas tank for use as an energy source. The sludge after digestion is further compressed and incinerated after intermediate storage.
