The mechanism of brazing When brazing in a furnace, reducing gases such as hydrogen gas and DX gas, as well as inert gases like nitrogen gas and argon gas, are used as the atmosphere gas inside the furnace. DX gas, also known as heat-generating reforming gas, is produced by reforming gases such as propane and butane.
The mechanism of brazing When iron oxide is heated in DX gas, hydrogen and carbon monoxide react with iron oxide, resulting in a reduction reaction. Hydrogen and carbon monoxide take oxygen from iron oxide, turning into water and carbon dioxide, and iron oxide is reduced back to iron.
The mechanism of brazing. By heat treating in a sufficient reducing atmosphere, not only can good wettability be achieved for excellent brazing and other processing, but it also prevents discoloration due to oxidation, resulting in products with a shiny finish.
Regarding brazing strength By determining the appropriate "filler material," "gap management," and "joint shape" for the base material to be brazed, it is possible to achieve a very strong bonding strength. When joining with a filler material that is softer than the base material and pulling as shown in the diagram, the lateral contraction of the filler is prevented by the hard base material, resulting in a force that pulls the filler outward.
