It meets the "Borosilicate Glass-1" standard specified by JIS, and is a glass with excellent chemical durability and heat resistance. It does not contain any heavy metals such as lead, zinc, or cadmium, nor does it use sulfurous acid or antimony, which are commonly used as foam agents in regular glass. Due to its small expansion coefficient, it experiences minimal expansion and contraction from heating and rapid cooling, making it a glass material with high heat resistance that can withstand a temperature shock of 120 degrees.

HARIO's heat-resistant glass has been produced since 1972 in a "smokeless factory." This was made possible by the successful development of Japan's first direct electric melting furnace for glass, a unique technology that melts glass raw materials using electricity instead of heavy oil. This changed the common perception of glass factories at the time, which were known for severe smoke and dust pollution, and created a workplace environment that considers both the surrounding environment and the employees working inside the factory.
