We analyze various methods to identify unknown foreign substances mixed in products and materials.
To analyze the characteristics of unknown foreign substances, it is necessary to select an appropriate analysis method based on information such as the size and composition of the foreign substance. Additionally, information about the surrounding environment where the foreign substance occurred, as well as the provision of samples that do not contain foreign substances, can be significant. At JTL, we support our customers in solving their challenges through foreign substance analysis.

basic information
**Features** ● Analysis of foreign substances resembling metals If it is suspected that the foreign substance is metallic, elemental analysis can be performed non-destructively and without pre-treatment using ED-XRF. Comparative analysis with target products that do not have foreign substances is also possible. ● Analysis of minute foreign substances is also possible If the foreign substance is minute, analysis is conducted while observing the sample using SEM-EDX. Foreign substances smaller than 100μm can be targeted for analysis. ● Identification analysis of organic foreign substances If the EDX results suggest that the foreign substance is organic, such as resin or fibers, identification of organic compounds is performed using FT-IR. Additionally, by conducting analysis in conjunction with the EDX elemental analysis results, a more reliable evaluation can be achieved. ● Component analysis using weight method is possible Foreign substances adhering to the product are removed with water or organic solvents, and the weight of the foreign substance is determined from the weight difference before and after cleaning. The recovered foreign substances can be analyzed using EDX or FT-IR, allowing for the identification of constituent elements or organic compounds.

Company information
Our main business is providing technical services to evaluate the reliability of developed products. We not only provide evaluation data in accordance with standards and regulations, but also propose optimal methods, conditions, and equipment for evaluation purposes, as well as design and manufacture original equipment and jigs for non-standard evaluations. Additionally, we handle three evaluation techniques—measurement, testing, and analysis—comprehensively, allowing us to offer complex services that span diverse equipment and suggest more multifaceted evaluation methods.
