[Spark Implementation Case] University of Salzburg Photodynamic Inactivation Research Laboratory
Reducing costs while increasing work efficiency by four times! Introducing a case study of "Spark."
At the University of Salzburg's Photodynamic Inactivation Research Laboratory, we are researching technologies that utilize photosensitive substances for human health. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) have the ability to eliminate major pathogens and cancer cells, so we aim to generate ROS using various photoactive compounds and apply this in a wide range of fields from food contamination removal to medical applications. In our laboratory, we use the 'Spark 10M Reader' to evaluate the amount of photosensitive substances taken up by cells. All photosensitive molecules can be tracked over time through fluorescence measurements of their intracellular concentrations. It is very convenient as we can incubate culture plates in the measurement chamber while managing the environment. Additionally, by using the new "Te-Cool Cooling Module," we have made some preliminary experiments possible. We can now study methods to utilize PDI for the removal of surface contamination by mimicking the conditions when microorganisms are placed outside the human body.
