Blow molding (hollow molding) is one of the plastic molding methods, where pellet-shaped resin is melted inside a molding machine by a heater and extruded through a screw-type extruder. The resin is injected into a hollow pipe shape, which is called a parison. By pinching the parison with a mold and blowing air into it (blowing), it expands to the shape inside the mold, and this molding method is referred to as blow molding. Characteristics of blow molding: The molds for injection molding consist of a core (male mold) and a cavity (female mold), resulting in high mold manufacturing costs. In contrast, blow molding can be performed with molds that only shape the outer form of the product, leading to lower mold costs compared to injection molding. Additionally, when molding hollow products, especially containers or tank-shaped products, blow molding has no seams, providing excellent airtightness.
