The power transmission method in precision machinery mainly uses gears; however, alternatives to gears are being sought in terms of transmission accuracy and dust prevention. Metal belts are known as a power transmission method that addresses the challenges posed by gears, but due to issues with workability and strength, it is currently difficult to produce low-cost, high-strength metal belts. Endo Manufacturing has developed a unique processing method to manufacture metal ultra-thin seamless pipes (metal sleeves). With this technology, they have succeeded in producing metal belts with fatigue strength 30% higher than conventional metal belts, while also reducing costs by 50%. The technology for metal sleeves enables the mass production of ultra-thin metal belts with a thickness of less than 30μm.
