Alumina (Al₂O₃) is an oxide of aluminum and is the most popular material among fine ceramics. It has been used in electrical products early on due to its high electrical insulation properties, and it is widely utilized in industrial machine parts because of its characteristics such as corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and high strength.
Steatite (MgO·SiO₂) is a ceramic primarily made from naturally occurring talc (soapstone). It has a firing temperature similar to that of ordinary porcelain, yet its strength is higher than that of ordinary porcelain. It also excels in insulation properties at high temperatures and high-frequency characteristics. The body is dense and homogeneous, chemically stable, and highly resistant to acids.
Aljil is a material developed using ceramic material technology, possessing excellent strength and high light reflectivity. Compared to conventional alumina ceramics, it has higher mechanical strength and fracture toughness, as well as superior heat dissipation properties, making it suitable for use in heat dissipation substrates and LED package substrates.
Zirconia (ZrO₂) is a ceramic with the highest strength and toughness among fine ceramics. As a high-strength and high-toughness material, it is used in cutting tools and grinding components, and in recent years, its applications have expanded to include optical fiber components, biomaterials, and jewelry.
