We would like to introduce a case study conducted by Naox Co., Ltd. regarding the analysis and improvement of the causes of spring breakage. We received a request from a certain spring manufacturer stating that some of their spring products had broken, but they were unable to determine the cause and were in trouble. In response, our company obtained both normal and broken samples of the spring products and used a scope to observe the appearance and fracture surfaces of the products. From the observations of the fatigue initiation point and the contact area, we inferred that the cause was due to excessive loads that were different from normal conditions, and we submitted the scope photos and our findings to the client.
