Widely used and standardized hardness test in metallurgy.
The "Brinell scale" characterizes the indentation hardness of materials based on the penetration scale of an indenter loaded onto a material test piece. In a typical test, steel balls with diameters of 10, 5, 2.5, or 1 mm are used as indenters with test forces ranging from 1 kgf to 3,000 kgf. For softer materials, lower forces are used, while for harder materials, tungsten carbide balls are used instead of steel balls. Measurements are taken of the diameter (d) of the resulting round indentation formed. 【Standards】 ■ European & International EN ISO 6506 ■ American ASTM E10 *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
