Cost Response Case: "Shifter Escalation"

We would like to introduce a cost response case regarding shifter escutcheons from our company. A manufacturer of automotive shifters (shift lever devices) requested to uniformly illuminate five operational position indicators on the top surface of the shifter with a single bulb. However, there were constraints that prevented the installation of a light guide lens inside, and the conventional technology required 14 printing processes, making it very expensive. Therefore, we utilized the reflection from the resin surface. Additionally, we reviewed the dimming printing process and cut unnecessary steps by 50%, achieving labor reduction and increased efficiency. As a result, we were able to meet the target cost and reduce the factors contributing to variability. Our customers were pleased with the stable quality of the product.
