This is an introduction to the "Smart Vortex Generator (SVG)" developed in 2005. It has a raised shape that serves as a vortex generator on the ground where lift is desired, but flattens out in the upper atmosphere to reduce drag, contributing to improved fuel efficiency. The smart vortex generator is "simple in structure, does not require external energy supply, is less prone to failure, and is easy to repair, maintain, and install on existing wings."
