basic information
The Cell Respiration Assay System (CRAS) is a precision measurement system that applies electrochemical measurement technology. By scanning a microprobe, it electrochemically measures the concentration gradient of dissolved oxygen in the vicinity of the sample and offshore, calculating the respiration rate from the spherical diffusion theory formula. The measurement plate used in this system features six inverted conical wells, allowing for continuous measurements. This device enables non-invasive measurements by positioning the microprobe next to the sample. This measurement does not affect the viability or developmental potential of the embryos.

Kurino Co., Ltd. was established to commercialize and clinically apply the outstanding biomedical engineering research of four teams from the "Tohoku University Advanced Medical Engineering Research Organization," which was launched in 2003 as part of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Super COE program (ended in 2008). Currently, while primarily focusing on the Tohoku region, we are expanding our field across Japan and even overseas, aiming for the medical application of excellent cutting-edge technologies.
