This document introduces CFRP sandwich panels made using One-Shot molding with our company's developed ultra-thin foam core. In the automotive and industrial sectors, there has been a demand for lightweight materials, leading to the use of CFRP (density 1.5). However, Super Resin Industry has achieved extreme lightweighting through a sandwich structure with our self-developed foam core (density 0.1). Furthermore, by integrating dissimilar materials through one-shot automated molding and out-of-autoclave (OOA) processes, which reduce steps like adhesive application, we have realized cost reductions. 【Features】 - Ultra-thin Achieves a core thickness of less than 1mm and can accommodate curved shapes and local thickness variations. - Lightweight Incorporating foam allows for approximately 30% weight reduction compared to CFRP. - One-Shot molding The use of thermosetting resin for the matrix eliminates the need for adhesives. Ultra-thin CFRP Sandwich Panel 【Ultra-thin Foam Core】 We have developed an ultra-thin sandwich panel with a core thickness of less than 1mm by controlling the foaming ratio of our self-developed epoxy free foam. It can accommodate curved shapes and local thickness variations. 【Extreme Lightweighting】 By incorporating foam, we have achieved a weight reduction of about 30% compared to conventional CFRP. *Reference Specifications - Total thickness: 0.79mm (skin 0.25mm, core 0.30mm) - Foaming ratio: 2 times → Specific gravity = 1.1 - Specific gravity comparison [g/cm³]: Iron 7.9, Aluminum 2.7, Magnesium 1.7, CFRP 1.5 to 1.7, Ultra-thin sandwich panel 1.1 【One-Shot Molding】 By using our self-developed fast-curing epoxy resin, we can mold the sandwich panel and boss/rib structure in one shot. Additionally, since we use thermosetting resin for the matrix, no adhesive is required.
