Non-contact online monitoring of DO/pH/biomass (OD) during shaking culture is possible. One flask setup.
The shake flask reader "SFR vario" can hold one flask ranging from 125ml to 2L and allows for non-contact, real-time simultaneous monitoring of the DO, pH, and biomass in the culture medium. It can also calculate the Oxygen Uptake Rate (OUR) from the slope of the oxygen measurement values. It is compatible with standard shaking incubators and can be easily mounted on a shaking platform. It is powered by two large-capacity rechargeable batteries, and the measurement data is wirelessly transmitted to a PC via Bluetooth, eliminating any cumbersome wiring from the shaking incubator.
