Radiographic testing (RT) is a non-destructive testing method that allows for inspection without damaging the product, making it possible to examine invisible internal defects. RT is primarily conducted to detect defects in the longitudinal welds of joints and can be applied to products with wall thicknesses ranging from a few millimeters to over 100 mm. We can also accommodate products for which RT is required by regulations such as the Electric Utility Industry Law, the Gas Utility Industry Law, and the High-Pressure Gas Safety Law, as well as those requested by customers. Additionally, considering the test specimen and the defects to be detected, we implement appropriate testing by selecting and combining various methods, including penetrant testing (PT), magnetic particle testing (MT), and ultrasonic testing (UT), in addition to RT. Radiographic testing (hereinafter referred to as RT) is a method of detecting internal defects by irradiating a test specimen with radiation and capturing the intensity of the radiation that passes through the specimen on X-ray film. In the case of joints, X-ray film is placed inside the pipe, and radiation is irradiated from the outside of the pipe. After developing the film, areas with internal defects, such as cracks, will allow more radiation to pass through and will appear dark on the film. The shape captured on the film is used to evaluate the types of defects present. Since RT utilizes radiation, it is conducted in a building equipped with lead doors and sufficiently thick concrete walls to prevent radiation from leaking to the outside.
