basic information
The SI-40SD is an interface converter that has the capability to convert between RS-232C and Centronics-compliant parallel, as well as a data logger function that allows communication data to be logged onto an SD card. The direction of serial-to-parallel conversion and the logging settings to the SD card can be configured using dip switches, and the recording to the SD card can be turned on or off using the buttons on the device. By downloading and using the PC configuration tool, it is possible to start the data logger function under various conditions and create log files without button operation. It can be used in systems that print from devices with only RS-232C serial ports to dot matrix printers like the PC-PR201 with parallel input, or to convert parallel printing data from dedicated machines to serial and capture it via a COM port for use on a PC. Furthermore, the SI-40SD can also be utilized as a low-cost SD/SDHC data logger that can continuously log RS-232C or Centronics-compliant parallel data onto SD/SDHC cards of up to 32GB.
