Headspace - This method automatically measures volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in river water, industrial wastewater, and other water sources online using gas chromatography. Hydrocarbons such as benzene and toluene are measured with a hydrogen flame ionization detector (FID), while halogenated compounds like trichloroethylene and tetrachloroethylene are simultaneously measured with a non-radioactive electron capture detector (EN: optional). The entire series of operations from "sampling water → gas-liquid equilibrium → headspace sampling → GC measurement → discharge" is fully automated.
