In the world of mass production, transparent materials are abundant, but I believe many people in the prototyping industry think of transparent parts as acrylic. When acrylic material is machined, it becomes cloudy due to cutting marks, and to achieve transparency, manual polishing is required, which increases costs. As an alternative material, polycarbonate (PC) is often mentioned. It has very strong impact resistance and excellent properties in weather resistance and heat resistance. Its strength lies in its ability to withstand long-term use and outdoor conditions. Like acrylic, polycarbonate also becomes cloudy when machined, but by using chemicals to dissolve the surface, a certain degree of transparency can be achieved. Utilizing these characteristics, it is well-suited for visualization models of automotive parts that require impact resistance and heat resistance. Internal visualization allows for the actual operation verification of mechanical parts, as well as validation of fluid flow analysis for liquids and gases.
