A new concept for NDT data recording using airborne ultrasound!
We have developed a revolutionary system called LATITUDE, designed to encode position and orientation information without relying on mechanization, for use in conjunction with non-destructive testing equipment. It enables the collection of high-quality encoded data while applying manual inspection procedures. LATITUDE is a simple and compact alternative to cumbersome automated inspection equipment.

basic information
LATITUDE enables position tracking using airborne ultrasound. It consists of a mechanism that tracks the position of a small transmitting sensor relative to a receiver side made up of stationary array sensors. The transmitting sensors of LATITUDE can be attached to various NDE probes, and the absolute position of the probes is tracked multidimensionally relative to the receiving array sensors. Currently, the LATITUDE system tracks the X (orthogonal) position, Y (parallel) position, and the orientation (skew angle) of the probe, with curvature in piping or other structures being corrected in the data. The system consists of three main components: (1) an electronic control unit, (2) a receiving array, and (3) a transmitting sensor attachment. In phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT), the electronic control unit integrates with the PAUT device Zetec TOPAZ, and LATITUDE system control is executed through the user interface of TOPAZ. The housing of LATITUDE is sealed and has a fanless structure. It does not require installation of an AC power supply and operates for up to 10 hours using two hot-swappable batteries.
