Bio-Techne Corporation (NASDAQ: TECH) held a presentation by three industry experts at the CASSS CE Pharm conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They discussed how Bio-Techne's ProteinSimple brand Maurice and MauriceFlex systems have improved the workflow of drug development.

Minneapolis / PRNewswire / September 26, 2023 (local U.S. time) Bio-Techne Corporation (NASDAQ: TECH) is launching a new Maurice Chromeleon driver kit that allows control of Maurice instruments via the Thermo Scientific Chromeleon chromatography data system (CDS). In addition to Compass for iCE and Waters Empower CDS, scientists can now use Chromeleon CDS to analyze charge and size data of proteins generated from the Maurice system. This exciting development adds extensive analytical capabilities to the Maurice system, providing streamlined data analysis and management workflows.

The immunoglobulin M (IgM) molecule has a pentameric or hexameric structure that provides particularly high binding strength, allowing it to bind to antigens present at low concentrations, which has led to active research into its therapeutic potential. Currently, there are over 100 IgM-based therapeutics undergoing clinical trials for the treatment of various diseases. Examples include Imvotamab (non-Hodgkin lymphoma), IgM-8444 (colorectal cancer), and IgM-7354 (solid tumors). The large size of the IgM molecule (approximately 950 kDa) can pose challenges in characterization. We introduce an analysis method for IgM proteins using capillary electrophoresis sodium dodecyl sulfate (CE-SDS) with Turbo CE-SDS cartridges on the Maurice platform. Both CE-SDS and imaging capillary isoelectric focusing (icIEF) methods can be performed on a single Maurice system for the characterization of a wide range of proteins, including mAbs, fusion proteins, and ADCs, significantly saving effort, resources, and time.
