Our company began research and development of the ETC testing system in the summer of 1996 and has proposed various systems. The core systems include the automatic testing system ME8500 for roadside units (hereinafter referred to as RSU), the automatic testing system ME8600 for on-board equipment (hereinafter referred to as OBE) production, and the ETC tester ME8800 for on-board equipment, which is the most downstream product. Additionally, we have proposed specialized systems for certain tests, including a receiving sensitivity inspection system, a dynamic operation testing system, an OBE actual vehicle installation testing system, and a protocol & communication testing system. Regarding ME8500, information can be found in the ITS REVIEW published by the Ministry of Construction (Foundation for Road New Industry Development Organization: abbreviated as HIDO) and on their website. This paper will discuss the content of ETC testing and current issues or topics of interest, such as burst BER measurement and multipath simulation. Furthermore, it will also address the adjustment of receiving sensitivity, which will be important for future OBE production.
