Measurement of the transmittance of resin materials provided for laser resin welding.
It provides equivalent measurements within the specified tolerance range for all test devices. The measurement principle is designed to optimize the device for materials containing glass fiber components. This, along with a strong application-oriented approach, makes the device particularly suitable for applications in the laser welding process of plastic materials. Many electronic components are implemented and distributed in plastic cases. For example, the large number of control units used by all vehicle manufacturers can lead to costly product recalls due to leaks caused by variations in the properties of plastic materials. By checking with LTW-I, such processes can be avoided after production begins.

basic information
The light from the LED passes through a point-like opening with a diameter of 1.5 mm to reach the sample being inspected. On the opposite side of the sample, the transmitted light is captured by the opening of a stainless steel tube with an inner diameter of less than 1.2 mm. The optical fiber inside the tube receives light at an angle of approximately 60° and directs it to a photodiode. The current from the photodiode is proportional to the amount of transmitted light. This measurement method is particularly suitable for materials containing glass fiber components. Using software for setup and measurement, all functions of the device can be adjusted, and the measurement program can be managed. The LTW-I can be connected to a PC (Windows) via USB interface, and during actual measurement operations, the unit operates as a standalone device. Multiple programs can be saved and selected on the LTW-I.
