According to the Small and Medium Enterprise Agency's Small Business White Paper published in April 2016, "small businesses," as defined by the Small and Medium Enterprises Basic Act, account for 85.1% of all businesses in Japan. To clarify the necessary elements to overcome this barrier, a survey was conducted targeting 500 executives and officers of companies with sales between 200 million and 1 billion yen. The survey revealed several insights.
