Bidirectional voltage conversion from 48V to 12V in a single chip. Achieves continuous 1kW, peak 1.5kW, and 98% efficiency.
Vicor's non-isolated intermediate bus converter NBM2317, with a compact package size of 22.8 x 17.3 x 5.2mm, achieves bidirectional voltage conversion between 48V and 12V with a continuous power of 1kW, peak power of 1.5kW, and an efficiency of 98%. The NBM operates at a switching frequency of 1.7MHz, making it very space-efficient compared to traditional low-frequency (hundreds of kHz) switching regulators that consist of numerous discrete components. Additionally, it responds quickly (within 1 microsecond) to transient loads while maintaining the output voltage within a narrow variation range. It is fundamentally low-noise even without external filters and also supports hot swapping and inrush current limiting. The NBM can provide solutions compatible with both 48V and 12V power supply systems, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, including data centers and automotive.
