Quality Control of Polypropylene (PP) Using Near-Infrared Spectroscopy [Technical Document]
[Near Infrared Spectrometer Technical Data 9] Simple non-destructive measurement of melt index (melt flow rate) using near infrared spectrometry without conducting rheology tests.
【Near Infrared Spectrometer Technical Data 9 Petrochemical Fiber】 To mold polypropylene (PP) resin into the desired shape, it must first be melted, making flow properties a crucial characteristic that influences the manufacturing process. One of the parameters that represent flow properties is the Melt Index (MI), also known as Melt Flow Rate (MFR). This measures the mass of material extruded from a die within a specified time (ASTM D1238). The standard procedure requires many tasks, such as sample packaging, preheating, and cleaning. Visible near-infrared spectroscopy, which does not require sample pretreatment or chemicals, enables MFR analysis in under one minute.
