Evaluation of a New Molding Method for Fiber Filling Improvement and Void Reduction [Technical Document]
Conducted visual inspection and X-ray CT to check the internal condition of the molded body! Evaluated the quality of the three-dimensional molded body created using a new method.
This document presents a technical report on three-dimensional shaped components with uneven surfaces formed using conventional and new methods. It includes an evaluation of the technical superiority of the new method through visual inspection and non-destructive testing using X-ray CT. The results of the visual inspection indicated that the components produced using the conventional method showed signs of burrs at the corners, suggesting instability in the positioning of the reinforcing fibers compared to those made with the new method. The new method's molded products were recognized as superior in terms of quality. Additionally, upon examining the X-ray CT images, it was found that the components made using the conventional method exhibited an increase in resin-rich areas due to the movement of reinforcing fibers, as well as intermittent air layers (voids) at the boundary layer between the matrix resin and the reinforcing fibers.
