The lid of a bath kettle used in a long-established ryokan in Nara Prefecture.
Currently, I received a request to create a new item because the one in use has become aged. Previously, a young furniture craftsman from another company made a similar lid, but since they only applied the usual "yatoizane" technique, it was fine when it was newly made. However, as expected, within a month it warped and cracked, leading to complaints. Due to this, I implemented more complex processing methods such as "suitukizan" and "arizanehagi" to prevent warping and cracking, resulting in a durable hinoki lid that can be used for a long time.
