In order to develop effective local application methods for CO2 in gas-phase cultivation, we investigated the effects of CO2 concentration settings on yield and application efficiency in winter-spring tomato cultivation.
In the application of liquefied carbon dioxide (CO2) using the biogas method, the high cost of CO2 is a challenge; however, it allows for more localized concentration control compared to combustion methods, and there is potential for effective application even under conditions with high ventilation rates when skylights are open. Therefore, to develop an effective CO2 application method using the biogas method, we conducted CO2 applications at varying set concentrations in a greenhouse for winter-spring tomato cultivation and examined the effects on CO2 consumption and yield. [Conditions] The experimental greenhouse was divided into three treatment areas: high concentration application zone (800±100 ppm), low concentration application zone (500±50 ppm), and no application zone, with the skylight opening temperature set at 27°C.
