basic information
An RF signal generator is an electrical measuring instrument that can output electrical signals controlled by frequency, power, modulation, and other parameters. It is commonly referred to as SG (Signal Generator), and the signals output from a calibrated RF signal generator are widely used as reference signals for experiments and evaluations of circuits and devices. Although it is classified as an electrical measuring instrument, an RF signal generator alone cannot directly measure electrical signals. It is a device that pairs with instruments like spectrum analyzers, and only when these two are combined does it form a complete measurement system. When developing or evaluating certain circuits or devices, there are often cases where they cannot generate signals on their own. In such cases, evaluation cannot be performed using spectrum analyzers. Here, by inputting a signal from the RF signal generator into the circuit or device, and measuring and evaluating the signal output from the circuit or device using a spectrum analyzer, it becomes possible to conduct the evaluation. Therefore, the signals output by the RF signal generator require high precision in terms of frequency and output level.
