The load of the spring increases in proportion to the amount of deflection. The spring constant refers to the load per 1mm of deflection. It is appropriate to set the spring constant between 30% and 70% of the total deflection amount. Tension springs have an initial tension, and deflection occurs when the load exceeds this initial tension.
