Measure the changes in quantitative sensations, contact heat, pain intensity, and discomfort scores before and after treatment!
We present the results of a study on emotions and perceptions related to pain identification after inhaling essential oils. Thirteen men and thirteen women were subjected to the scents of distilled lavender and rosemary, and changes in quantitative sensations, contact heat, pain intensity, and discomfort scores were measured before and after treatment at a dental clinic. As a result, the scent of lavender reduced the intensity of pain associated with treatment and the emotions related to unpleasant experiences, while rosemary showed only a slight effect.
