Only the cutting edge shape of the super hard tool is improved! The base material remains unchanged.
If you want to improve the cutting edge shape and the relief angle, etc., of a super hard soldered product while keeping the base material as it is.
In the case of cemented carbide brazed products where only the cutting edge of the cemented carbide tip needs to be changed, it is possible to consider improving the cutting edge shape. The cemented carbide is brazed to the base material. Therefore, by reheating it to the melting temperature of the brazing material to melt the brazing material and remove the cemented carbide tip, a new cemented carbide tip can be attached. For example, if you want to change the rake angle of the cutting edge of the cemented carbide tip, you would remove the tip, cut the base material, process a new brazing surface, and then braze the tip again. If you also want to change the shape of the tip, a new tip of a different shape can be brazed. While attention must be paid to the effects of thermal stress and structural changes in the base material due to reheating, if these issues can be managed through temperature control, it is possible to make improvements only to the working part of the tool while using the original base material.
