It is also possible to perform hard alloy brazing on cast iron materials such as FCD! By making only the working parts from hard alloy, it is possible to enhance the tool's effectiveness!
The reason why castings such as gray cast iron (FC material) are selected as materials is believed to be due to their high degree of freedom in shaping and the ability to reduce costs during mass production. Even with such castings, when strength and wear resistance are required, ductile cast iron (FCD material) may be used. Furthermore, if the wear environment at the action point of a tool made from FCD material is particularly harsh, enhancing the tool's effectiveness can be achieved by making only that action point from cemented carbide. In such cases, the brazing processing technology of castings and cemented carbide is utilized. However, there are also technical challenges associated with brazing cemented carbide and castings.
