BYK-3420: A silicone-based surfactant for water-based inkjet inks and other water-based materials, highly effective in reducing surface tension.
The new BYK-3420 is stable against hydrolysis, and even under high temperatures (60°C) or varying pH conditions, the surface tension of the formulation remains unchanged after storage. It significantly reduces surface tension without stabilizing foam, promoting wetting on particularly challenging substrates. BYK-3420 complies with the Swiss chemical regulations and Nestlé guidelines, and it is not labeled as SVHC.

Applications/Examples of results
Applicable Fields • Inkjet Inks This additive is particularly recommended for all water-based inkjet inks. Recommended addition amount: 0.1-1.5% as an additive to the total formulation of inkjet inks. The above recommended addition amount should be used as an initial value. The optimal addition amount should be determined through actual testing. Addition Method It is preferable to add this additive to the final formulation, but it can be added at any stage of the manufacturing process. • Household, Industrial, and Equipment Cleaning Agents This additive is recommended for care products in the neutral pH range. Recommended addition amount: 0.05-0.5% as an additive to the total formulation of water-based care products. When used in certified care products compliant with the Austrian Eco-Label UZ 63, the addition amount should not exceed 0.25%. Addition Method It is preferable to add this additive to the final formulation, but it can be added at any stage of the manufacturing process.
