[Case Study] Achieved a 100% reading rate for measuring athletes' running times! UHF band RFID system #IoT #RFID #Measurement #Labor-saving #Competition #CaseStudy
The UHF band RFID system from Maspro Denkoh was adopted for verification at the 4th Aichi Pond Ekiden Race (hosted by the City of Nisshin, Nisshin City Board of Education, and Nisshin City Athletics Association) and was utilized for recording and aggregating the running times of a total of 65 teams and 382 participants. The Aichi Pond Ekiden Race has been held since the 2017 fiscal year to promote health among local residents and foster a spirit of cooperation through the passing of the tasuki (sash), catering to participants from elementary school students to competitive athletes. This marks the fourth event. The PDF document introduces the background of the implementation and its effects, so please take a look. basic information
◆What is UHF Band RFID? → It is an automatic identification technology that allows for the non-contact, instantaneous reading and rewriting of information from multiple RF tags attached to products, among other things. Since it uses radio waves, it can read even when the tags are not visible. ◆Features of Maspro's UHF Band RFID Maspro offers a variety of antennas and reader/writers that leverage high-frequency technology developed over many years. We provide a diverse range of products, including high-gain planar antennas with world-class performance, sheet antennas with a minimum thickness of 1.8mm, and reader/writers compliant with Japanese laws, supporting various situations. ◆What RFID Can Do - Tasks that previously required individual visual confirmation can now be performed efficiently. - Production processes can be visualized in real-time, leading to expected reductions in work time and increased operational efficiency. ◆Differences from Barcodes While barcodes require scanning each one individually (within a few tens of centimeters), RFID can read the information from multiple RF tags within the range of radio waves (several meters) all at once, significantly reducing the workload.
