Transient grounding resistance values (effective surge impedance) caused by lightning surges differ from steady-state grounding resistance values due to the influence of reactance and capacitance in the ground. It is important to measure grounding electrodes, such as those for lightning protection systems, transmission towers, and communication antenna bases, where surge currents flow, using a surge impedance meter. 2. Measurement can be performed without removing the overhead ground wire of transmission towers. 3. Compact, lightweight, and easy to operate. 4. Operational check with test resistance. A simple operational check can be performed to confirm whether this product can measure correctly. *Effective surge impedance refers to the value obtained by dividing the maximum voltage that appears when a current with a wavefront length of 1μs flows into the ground by the maximum value of the inflow current.*
