The new treatment "EVOLK" for low Cr steel resin molds has surface hardness and diffusion layer depth that exceed that of New Kanak.
New treatment "EVOLK" for low Cr steel resin molds The hardness of P20 and P21 series materials is around 1000 HV. The surface roughness, weldability, and dimensional changes are similar to conventional materials, and due to the low-temperature treatment, dimensional changes are minimal. Additionally, for SKD11 materials, the diffusion layer depth is greater than before, making "EVOLK" effective for press molds as well.

New treatment for resin molds "EVOLK"
Company information
Kanak processing is a gas nitriding treatment using a unique method. The material is held in a heating atmosphere of around 500°C for several hours, allowing nitrogen to diffuse from the surface of the steel and react with metal elements to form a hardened layer. Unlike conventional nitriding treatments, there are very few brittle iron nitride compounds near the surface, and the high compressive residual stress along with a smooth hardness distribution are characteristics of Kanak processing.
