Conventional CFRP products are molded using an autoclave, resulting in products with exceptional strength. However, this method requires time for the curing of thermosetting resins under high temperature and pressure, which poses challenges to productivity and has been a factor limiting CFRP products to high-value items. The size of the autoclave, being a pressure vessel, determines the size of the molded products, leading to significant constraints in terms of product size. Thus, the method using an autoclave is unsuitable for mass production of widely used items and has limitations on product size and shape. To overcome these challenges, the RTM (Resin Transfer Molding) method has gained popularity in recent years. The VaRTM method is a type of RTM, where materials are layered, then vacuumed, and thermosetting resin is infused and cured with heat. Since it does not use prepreg, it leads to cost reduction.
