basic information
What is optical molding? Optical molding is the world's first new technology that uses silicone rubber molds to shape actual models of thermoplastic resins. Thermoplastic resin, used as molding material for mass production, is made into fine particles and filled into a silicone mold. While applying vacuum compression, near-infrared light irradiated from the outside passes through the silicone rubber mold, heating and melting the fine particle material placed inside the mold to shape it. This method allows for the rapid and cost-effective production of actual models with the same performance as products made by injection molding.

Applications/Examples of results
Until now, the premise for molding thermoplastic resins at the prototype stage was to create molds. However, with "light molding," it has become possible to use silicone rubber molds by leveraging the vacuum casting technology that was used in traditional prototyping. In addition to the molding materials in our inventory, we can also use customer-specified pellet materials for final prototypes, which helps in improving issues and evaluating materials at an early stage before transitioning to mold production. 【Some of the materials used】 - ABS (Techno Polymer, 330LABS) - GPPS (PS Japan, SPG10) - PP, HDPE, LDPE, LLPE (Japan Polypropylene, Novatec) - POM (Polyplastic, Duracon) - ABS/GF (Techno Polymer, 130GF20) - PC/GF (Mitsubishi Engineering Plastics, U-PILON) - PC/ABS (Teijin, Multilon)
Detailed information
-
Fill the crushed micro pellets into the silicone rubber mold.
-
Heat is applied to the equipment to melt the pellets.
-
Performing die cutting, finishing, and post-processing. Ideal for checking hinge shapes and more.
-
We offer a wide variety of resin options. If you try, we can also crush and mold the pellet materials according to your requests, such as ABS, PP, PC/ABS, LDPE, LLPE, HDPE, POM, and more.
