**Principle of Flash Welding** By lightly bringing the two metal end faces to be joined into contact and passing a large current through them, concentrated heating occurs at the contact point, causing sparks to fly due to the thermal melting. When the contact is broken, the workpieces are advanced further, continuously repeating the contact and spark generation, which raises the temperature of the weld area and cleans the welding end faces with metal flash.
