Conventional lateral strain gauges measure the r-value using one or two points of lateral strain, and due to localized strain in the specimen, vibrations of the gauge, or differences among operators, the measured r-value can vary by up to 30%. In this method, it is necessary to conduct retesting to verify whether this r-value meets the performance requirements of the client, which can lead to wasted time. 'AverEdge32' is an advanced optional feature that utilizes the onboard processing capability of AVE2 to capture the values of 32 individual lateral strains within the gauge length of the specimen, averaging them in real-time into a single digital signal.
