A monitoring system that allows inspection to be completed simultaneously with welding!
"LEXA VIEW" is an in-process monitoring system that quantitatively captures the shape changes of the laser keyhole and the surrounding molten pool, allowing for continuous monitoring and comparative judgment to assess the quality of welding during the process. It can detect welding defects such as holes, underfill, penetration, non-penetration, and lack of fusion in butt joints and lap joints. Additionally, while not related to welding quality, it can also detect interference of the laser beam with the welding fixture. Please feel free to contact us if you have any inquiries. [Features] ■ Cost reduction by completing inspections simultaneously with welding ■ Utilizing accumulated data to detect trends and precursors of quality issues ■ Marking of defective areas during judgment *For more details, please download the PDF or contact us.

Detailed information
-
During laser welding, the opening state of the keyhole changes according to the welding condition, and the vibration of the molten pool and the flow of the molten metal also change. LEXA_VIEW is a monitoring system that quantifies changes in the keyhole and molten pool, records them as digital data, and can determine the quality of the weld.
-
The monitoring method uses a CMOS camera (imaging area 2mm × 2mm) to capture images of the high-temperature region near the keyhole from the coaxial position of the laser light. No additional lighting is used; instead, the intensity distribution and shape of the near-infrared light emitted from the molten pool are monitored. The imaging area can be changed as needed.
-
Material SPCC, plate thickness 1mm + 1mm, images of keyhole and molten pool when laser welding is performed normally at the lap joint.
-
Material SPCC, plate thickness 1mm + 1mm, keyhole and molten pool images when underfill occurs in lap joints.
-
Material SPCC, plate thickness 1mm + 1mm, keyhole and molten pool images when the interface of the upper and lower plates in the overlapping joint is not welded.

At Maeda Industries, we offer a diverse range of laser devices, various peripheral equipment, and analytical instruments to achieve high-precision laser methods. Additionally, by utilizing our self-developed monitoring system for laser welding, we can visualize, measure, and instantly assess the quality of the keyhole and molten pool. This capability allows us to provide experimental results as digital data to our customers during the development of laser welding methods. As a result, we can accurately grasp the technical basis of laser welding and clarify the direction our customers should take. This leads to a significant reduction in development time and a decrease in risks when introducing laser technology, providing substantial benefits to our customers. Furthermore, the digital data obtained during the in-process phase can be used for adaptive control during laser processing, continuously maintaining the optimization of processing conditions, which contributes to quality stability.
