Speed warning device as a "brake for the heart"! Ensuring safety with forklifts at low speeds!

We would like to introduce a case study on the implementation at Fukushima Manufacturing Plant of Nipis Co., Ltd. Inside the factory, there are many instances where forklifts transport heavy component pallets between processes. If they exceed the speed limit, there is a risk of tipping over or load collapse even on slight curves due to centrifugal force. Additionally, there is a danger of not being able to stop suddenly if a person unexpectedly steps in front of the forklift. The speed limit at this manufacturing plant was set at 10 km/h outdoors, but it was in a "not visible" situation whether this limit was actually being adhered to. The solution that paved the way for addressing this issue was the newly introduced "Speed Warning Device." This device detects the forklift's travel speed with sensors and has a two-stage warning function, allowing operators to clearly notice when they exceed the speed limit. This was a key point in the decision to implement it. Several months have passed since the introduction, and there has been a definite reduction in speed violations on-site, as well as a decrease in forklift damage.
