We received an inquiry from Company D, a manufacturer of contract-synthesized active pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates, asking, "Do you have a centrifuge capable of separation tests for research and development conditions? Also, is there a model that allows for easy movement and installation of the equipment?" In response, we proposed our laboratory centrifuge model LAC-2000, which was accepted. Considering the possibility of testing with very small sample sizes, we suggested a specification that allows for the installation of a basket from model LAC-400. This design enables adjustment of capacity based on sample volume and slurry characteristics, thus shortening test times. As a result of introducing our centrifuge, they reported that they can now conduct repeated separation tests with small sample sizes, leading to a significant reduction in the time required for condition setting. Regarding the detachment and disassembly of the basket for cleaning, traditional centrifuges require specialized knowledge and tools, but our LAC-2000 allows for easy detachment with general tools, which has also reduced the burden on operators. Its compact size makes it suitable for installation in laboratories, and it can be used without concern for installation location, as it operates on a 100V power supply.

Separation tests can be performed with a small amount of sample. ■ Repeated testing is possible under various conditions ■ This contributes to shortening the development period for condition setting. While traditional centrifuges required 20 liters (20,000 milliliters) of sample, the LAC400 can perform filtration tests with just 400 milliliters of sample. With a reduced amount of filtration sample, the filtration time is also shortened, thereby reducing the time required for testing.
■Formation of cake layers is possible■ It is possible to check the filtration resistance and to confirm the cleanability of the cake by introducing cleaning solution. Since it is a transparent basket, the filtration status can be visually confirmed, allowing for data logging during the centrifugation process.
