Enabling effective leak response! A proposal to redesign the packing holder structure to solve problems!
We received a consultation from a customer who is using a gland packing as a sealing material to stop leaks from a rotary valve, reporting that leaks were occurring. Gland packing requires regular tightening, but the customer was using a simple type that could not be tightened, so we switched to a rotary valve that allows for tightening. By tightening the gland packing, we can achieve an immediate response to the leaks. In resolving this issue, we were able to produce multiple positive effects, and the customer was very pleased. [Issues] ■ It was found that powder was leaking from the shaft of the rotary valve. → Initially, we were monitoring the situation, but the leaks worsened, reaching a state that could not be ignored. → It became clear that the effectiveness of the shaft seal's gland packing was deteriorating day by day. → We wondered if there was a way to address the gland packing to stop the leaks. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
